It can be a little annoying when there is a new version of WordPress available and you’re not sure what version your are currently running. Sometimes it’s worth waiting a while after a new major update to see if it brings bugs and it would be worth to know how far behind you are to the latest version.
While this information is displayed on the dashboard home, but I wrote a plugin to display the current installed version with the latest release version to help this on all admin pages in the footer.
